Yorkies are not the easiest to potty train, but they are not the hardest either. It just takes patience, encouragment, and understanding to get your dog to do what you say.

Start with potty training your yorkie right from the beginning. Puppy’s bladders are very small and need to be emptied often. Take your puppy out every 30 minutes or after: nap, vigorous play, eaten, and very fist thing in the morning. You wouldn’t expect a child to be potty trained in a week would you? Don’t expect a dog to either.

Your dog will probably not mess where they sleep. So if your going to be gone, and don’t have a puppy crate, then put him/her in there closed off bedding area.

They still may go, but be sure that you take them our right before your leave and right when you get home.

Never put your dogs face into the mess, or abuse him/her.
Put tin foil on the spot where he/she seem to most often go. (The dogs don’t like to be on the tin foil.)

When you are outside and he/she does go. Praise the dog and let him/her know that that’s what they need to do outside. And when they do go inside you can just simply raise your voice and say “NO!” and take him outside to let him know that’s where he/she should go.

If he/she comes right back in when you take him out, then play with him for a while outside and his/her bladder will fill, stop for a minute, see if they sniff around and if they do, let them keep on doing so till they go.

Correct them only when caught in the act.

Don’t let your puppy with potty training issues roam your house unattended.
I suggest a doggie door with a fenced off yard, they can be helpful. But some dogs do refuses to go outside on his/her own, or does not like it when there’s cold weather and will not go outside on his/her own.
